Opportunity Details... Blizzard Boxes
The purpose of this effort is to supply an emergency meal to homebound seniors in the event of floods, snow blizzards, or other unexpected disasters. Our campaign will "kick-off" on September 1 and will conclude by Thanksgiving.
The Blizzard Box, which contains shelf-stable meal supplies, is ideal for meal service during severe weather or whenever a meal cannot be provided as planned. This project will ensure that recipient is prepared for almost any emergency. The AARP West Virginia state office will provide Blizzard Boxes to AARP Chapters, volunteers, retired school employees, civic/community organizations, faith based groups, schools, business, etc. as part of AARP's Create the Good Project. In West Virginia, many seniors rely heavily on home-delivered meals for their nutritional needs.
Your group can help by collecting non-perishable food items and packing them in the Blizzard Boxes and distributing them in your community. The boxes measure approximately 9x6x6 and have a carrying handle.
