Healthcare educational programme for high school students
I am a registered medical practitioner (primary care physician) with a research Masters degree in Psychiatry and Mental Health who is extremely interested in the ability of computers to play an important role in both professional and lay person health education. As a direct result of this interest, I have been working for the past five years on my freeware healthcare education programme for high school students (which has been endorsed by my local Education Department - the Western Cape Education Department in South Africa). It is proposed that this programme (in the form of a computer game) will be freely distributed to local high school learners (especially those interested in pursuing a career in the healthcare sciences).
I have recently managed to link with a volunteer retired (although not a member of AARP) US-based programmer and web-designer (Tom) who is presently assisting me to develop a webpage which might eventually evolve to become a fully-fledged browser-based application. As neither of us possess computer graphics skills, there already is (and most definitely will be) a dire need for the input of a volunteer 2d (and possibly 3d) computer graphics designer (artist). Therefore we are seeking the voluntary services of a (semi) retired 2d (and possibly 3d) computer graphics designer (artist) with an interest in the field of healthcare who would have the time and inclination to commit to this community-upliftment project. In addition (as we are trying to create the outline of a functional Teaching Hospital complex - THC), the services of a CAD (computer aided design) proficient draftsman (or even architect) would also be highly prized ....
[I have previously managed to obtain the short-term assistance of a couple of young and recently qualified people (a graphics artist and a 3d architectural modeler) but their personal circumstances (including work-related commitments) have forced them both to withdraw from this highly ambitious project.
